2016-10-17: Mighty Pirates 0 vs. Dirty Pucks 3

A goal with two seconds left in the second and 15 seconds into the third was more than enough for the Dirty Pucks (2-2-0) to topple a disheartened Pirates (0-3-1) crew Monday night. The final score: a big 0-3 goose egg!

The Dirty Pucks ran a well-organized, pre-game skate, with plenty of pucks. The Pirates scrambled to even get onto the ice, and not a single puck was there to warm-up the Stugeonator. Not professional, guys. Not professional.

Halfway through the first, the Pirates finally managed to get the lines that "sub" Captain Mola put before the game together. Doc M. Sager skated on the right of his son J. Sager, while Tower of Power D. Turner managed the left. Gallivan, Leggett and Mola followed, with Rosenberg, Livergant and Weber after them. On defense, C. Besant, J. Besant, Jezioranski, J. Klein and L. Klein.

The fact that Dirty Pucks 'keep Walklate put in a career performance, stopping any, and every, shot the Bucs could get towards the net, meant your heroes never had a hope of evening the score, even though they outshot their opponents.

The Pirates are now tied for the fewest goals for (5) and have the most goals against (16) after four games. No wonder they're in last place!

Much like the disastrous Semi-Final back in April, the Dirty Ones started slow out of the gate, but came on strong after a few shifts. It became clear they had more desire to play with the puck, and they started to win all the little battles. It didn't help that the Pirates couldn't seem to get their positional game together, spreading out way too far to mount any sort of break out play during the game.

Now winless in four to start the "pre-season", and in dead last place in the Monday Gilmour Division, we think it's safe to say the Pirates are not in danger of moving up a division. And, with no divisions below, it's safe to say they won't get moved at all... we think! So, perhaps it's time to see some "regular season" hockey, boys! Oh, and stop missing so many games! Oh, and pick a Captain already! Come on... the city of Toronto is depending on you!
