2015-09-28: Mighty Pirates 4 vs. Goonies 4

Game Sheet

News Deck - The Howie Report Another slow start for the Pirates (1-0-1), and a third period comeback was foiled by a fluke goal Monday night. However, even critics agree, it was a gutsy effort from the Bucs, still undefeated after a thrilling 4-4 tie.

Rosenberg made his season debut in fine fashion, potting two goals, while Gallivan (2A), Leggett (2A), Mandell (1G, 1A) and Mola (1G, 1A) each had multi-point nights. Leggett's two assists give him a milestone 150 for his marvelous career. Congratulations!

The scouting report couldn't have been more wrong, as the Goonies (1-0-1) came out with exuberance and straight out youth! As Leggett stated at a post-game conference, "Nobody had the luxury of standing still out there tonight. If you weren't skating, you were missing your opportunities."

Captain Mola caught fire early in the third period with passionate skating and forechecking, and the rest of the team followed.

Pirate goals 20 seconds apart with 7:22 on the clock were not enough to top the fact that the Goonies only needed nine and 11 seconds on their respective powerplays to keep pace in an extremely even matchup.
