- Game 6: For the third time in four weeks the Mighty Pirates (2-1) lined up against the Aeros (3-1)... but, this time, for the Pirates at least, it was a chance to win Starbucks Cup! The season series was split. They had split their games at Ricoh. You could have split the tension with the hair standing on the back of your neck! Of course, the Pirates had the advantage of being undefeated, knowing that they would live on if they lost, and things looked great from the outset. Carrying a 3-0 lead into the third period, the Pirates moved away from their game plan, settling in to that conservative "we'll just kill off the last few minutes" style of play that actually ended up killing them. Four third period goals for the Aeros showed they weren't going to let the Cup out of their hands that easily, and the comeback was complete with a goal with just 52 seconds remaining in overtime. A "do or die" Game 7 is not what Doc Sager is ordered, but that's exactly where we're headed.
- Game 7: The Mighty Pirates (2-2) could have won it all on the wonderful, smooth ice at Ricoh Coliseum, but they took the hard road instead and had to settle for a Rinx 3 "do or die" Game 7, once again, against the Aeros (4-1). Being their fourth game in five weeks against each other, unfamiliarity wasn't an issue with these hockey clubs. A goal from the Pirates under two minutes in was a good start, but penalty problems became a factor as the game progressed. The Aeros evened the score in the first, and took a 1-2 lead into the third period. Unlike two weeks ago, when they tied things up with 13 seconds left, you somehow felt that it wasn't going to be possible. And, with 2:47 to play, on the power-play, the Aeros would indeed put the game away for good. The Pirates didn't nearly have the jump they did in Game 6, and some have said that it was actually then that the series was lost. Pirate players concurred, being unable to put the Aeros away with a two-goal lead with under three minutes to go was far more tragic than this Game 7 loss.

- Game 5: The top-seeded Aeros (2-1) and the fourth-seeded Toronto Red Army H.C. (1-2) met for a second time in these playoffs... and it was another dandy. The Aeros only had one day to recover from their heart-breaking shootout loss to the Mighty Pirates (2-0) in Round Two, and the Red Army had a mere day to bathe in the glory of eliminating the Steelheads (0-2). In the end, Red Army simply didn't have enough juice against the youthful and spirited Aeros.

- Game 3: The Mighty Pirates (2-0) and Aeros (1-1) have played some thrilling offensive match-ups this season, but defense has been the name of the game in the playoffs. The Pirates headed into the 3rd period in a scoreless tie for the second playoff game in a row, but instead of breaking the deadlock, it was the Aeros taking a 1-0 lead into the dying moments. With 'keep Lella on the bench and 13 seconds on the clock, the Pirates mustered a dramatic tying goal to send this one to a dreaded shootout. Lella would then stop all four Aeros' shooters, while Leggett and Jezioranski found their marks. The Mighty Pirates are headed to the Finals at Ricoh Coliseum, but the Aeros will get another chance to get there against the Toronto Red Army H.C. (1-1) in Round Three.
- Game 4: Toronto Red Army H.C. (1-1) had won both regular season games against the Steelheads (0-2) this season, and the playoffs were to be no different. Like the previous match-ups, this game was close... that is, until the Red Army picked up a late goal and an empty-netter with five seconds left, much to the despair of the Steelheads, who packed up their golf clubs right after the game. Red Army move on to a sudden-death Round Three match-up with the Aeros (1-1) to determine who will meet the Mighty Pirates (2-0) in the Finals.

- Game 1: The clubs only met twice this season, both close, grueling games, but the top seeded Aeros (1-0) were not able to find a way to win... until tonight! The Toronto Red Army H.C. (0-1) rode an 8 game unbeaten streak into the playoffs, and the Aeros would see why in this Round One classic. Some would agree that the Red Army had an edge in play in this game, but it was the Aeros who held a 2-1 lead in the 3rd period. That slipped away, as the Red Army forced overtime. Looking like it was heading for a shootout, the Russians took an untimely, and unlikely, overtime penalty which would lead to an Aeros goal with just over 20 seconds on the clock. See, we told you it would be close!
- Game 2: The Mighty Pirates (1-0) held a long-standing historical edge (7-2-0) over the Steelheads (0-1), but they knew they needed to change their focus for this Round One matchup after a 3-4 loss just before Christmas, and most recently a 0-5 shalacking. While the Steelheads weren't known for scoring heaps of goals, goaltender Stevenson's incredible 1.30 GAA, second best in ALL of True North Hockey, was a major factor. Heading into the 3rd period, this game was dead-locked 0-0, and the Pirates continued a masterful defensive performance. With just over 7 minutes to go, grinder Phillips stole a puck and fed Mutch for a lead your heroes would not relinquish!
