Round-By-Round Playoff Coverage

Last Updated: Monday, April 15th, 2019 at 5:30pm (EST)

The Mighty Pirates are five-time winners of the esteemed True North Hockey Canada Cup (2019, 2017, 2013 and as the Molson Cup in 2000 and 1999)! They couldn't defend their silverware last season... but, plundered away this year to grab their fifth Cup in 25 seasons!:

  • Round One: Grim Reapers 3 at Dirty Pucks 0 / Pirates 4 at Super Seals 1
  • Round Two: Grim Reapers 0 at Pirates 3 / Super Seals 1 at Dirty Pucks 3
  • Round Three: Grim Reapers 1 at Dirty Pucks 2
  • The Finals: Pirates 3 at Dirty Pucks 2 (OT) / Pirates 1 at Dirty Pucks 3

Monday Gilmour 'A' Division - Finals
  • Game 6 Recap: The Pirates (2-1) were simply not able to match the intensity level of their first two games, while the Dirty Pucks (3-1) elevated their game to hard grinding perfection. Well, there was also a little puck luck, as both Dirty Puck goals came off fortuitous deflections, leaving Lella with little chance on either. Bring on GAME 7!

  • Game 7 Recap: There was no room for error, as the Pirates (3-1) and Dirty Pucks (3-2) faced-off for do-or-die True North Hockey Canada Cup glory! The Bucs will needed to find a way to win the puck more, and control it. And they did. All the little things they didn't do in Game 6 they did in Game 7. The Dirty Ones executed as well as they did they week before, which meant all-out war. And, it took overtime to decide which team wanted it a little bit more!

Monday 416 Division R-6 'B' Pool - Round Three
  • Game 5 Recap: The Dirty Pucks (2-1) were looking for revenge after being shut out 0-3 by the Grim Reapers (1-2) back in Round One. They also had a do-or-die elimination game under their belt, and plenty of previous playoff experience. 'Keep Cisco needed another huge effort for the Grim Reapers' Cinderella season to continue, but it just wasn't enough. The Dirty Pucks of this game moves on to The Finals, while the Grim Reapers join the Super Seals on the golf course.

Monday 416 Division R-6 'B' Pool - Round Two
  • Game 3 Recap: It's not lost on the last place Grim Reapers (1-1) that they could have slide into the The Cup Finals with a win here. And, beating the Pirates (2-0) on the power-play with one second to play in their last meeting meant they were be gunning hard for your heroes. The Pirates, on the other hand, knew they could succeed with another strong, well-positioned effort. And they came through!

  • Game 4 Recap: Neither of these teams felt that they should be here, but Round One losses meant this is exactly where they were... a do-or-die elimination match to see who moves on... and who gets an early summer break! The season series was relatively even, as were their season stats, though the Super Seals (0-2) had allowed more goals than the Dirty Pucks (1-1). In the end, the Dirty Pucks had just enough extra offensive power to move on.

Monday 416 Division R-6 'B' Pool - Round One
  • Game 1 Recap: Wins had been few and far between for the last place Grim Reapers (1-0) in 2018/2019. However, a recent 1-1 tie against their first playoff opponent, the Dirty Pucks (0-1), gave them some motivation. The Dirty Ones had plenty of playoff experience to draw from and wanted to rebound from a Semi-Final shootout exit last season. They also had been doing something a lot better than the Reapers this season... twice as good, in fact! Scoring goals. But, not tonight! The Grim Reapers found a way to shut it down and get a huge win. They'll now take on your Pirates (1-0) in Round Two with a chance to advance directly to The Cup Finals, while the Dirty Pucks play a "do-or-die" game with the Super Seals (0-1).

  • Game 2 Recap: These teams both got beautiful new jerseys this season. They split their regular season series (1-1-2), and accrued less penalty minutes than all the other teams. Their goals for and goals against records are almost identical. They both beat each other 2-0 in their last two meetings. There's no doubt about it, the Pirates (1-0) Super Seals (0-1) were in for an epic battle! But, it was the Pirates who upped their effort level from the previous week, showing the Seals they meant business. With just nine skaters, the Super Seals put in a valiant effort; but, four magical goals from four mystical Pirates were too much for them to handle. The Pirates move on to face the Grim Reapers (1-0) in Round Two with a chance to advance directly to The Cup Finals, while the Super Seals face off in a "do-or-die" match with the Dirty Pucks (0-1)!
